Lisa Kennedy was the Denver Post’s film/theater critic for several years. Before that, she held a variety of editing posts, among them: editor-at-large at Out magazine, managing editor at Us Weekly magazine. She got her start at The Village Voice, where she edited its famed film section, became arts editor and then features editor. She writes for The New York Times and Variety, and her work has appeared in Alta, American Theatre, The Boston Globe and Kirkus Reviews among others. She is on the board of local arts organizations Cine Fe and Impact Arts. She is the co-chair of the Denver Commission on Cultural Affairs. She teaches nonfiction writing at Lighthouse Writers Workshop and is a manuscript and writing doula. She is at work on “Icarus Ascending,” a memoir about her brother’s death from AIDS in 1991. Her wee company, Ferment, will be launching a culture podcast soon.
